Tackling Drone Sustainability with Dassault Systèmes Reinvent the Sky Solution

General Aeronautics in India creates unmanned aerial systems aimed at addressing major environmental issues. To achieve global leadership, the company required a technology platform, that could link its design and engineering teams. As well as centralize its data, and provide the agility necessary for faster development of innovative aircraft. The solution, Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE® platform.

To tackle sustainability, the company adopted 3DEXPERIENCE on the cloud using the Reinvent the Sky Solution. This provides scalable access to digital design and simulation applications within a secure, standards-based environment. By integrating its various tools, teams, and processes into a unified stream, General Aeronautics can achieve a comprehensive view of its product lifecycles, optimize the design and functionality of its next-generation drones, and prevent costly issues in the later stages of development.

Using 3DEXPERIENCE with Digital Twin

General Aeronautics is leveraging Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Multi-Disciplinary Optimization (MDO) on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to virtually develop and simulate drones. This approach allows for virtual testing. As a result, reduces the need for costly physical prototypes, and enables the sharing of cross-domain models in a single environment. This minimizes integration issues that can affect project costs and schedules.

One of the first products developed on this platform was the GA-1. This is a versatile mini UAS with vertical take-off capabilities, efficient forward flight, and high endurance. Making it suitable for various payloads from surveillance to delivery.
