Defining the 3D Layout and Routing in the Mechanical Environment of Electrical Harness & Cableways
The complexity of large-scale electrical systems requires a process-specific solution in order to design faster and ensure quality. In addition, the use of physical prototypes creates certain drawbacks such as high costs, inflexible modifications, and the late recognition of design errors
The Electrical 3D Systems Designer role delivers a process-specific solution for designing physical wire harnesses. This solution is driven by logical specifications and is integrated with harness manufacturing. By delivering a realistic simulation for 3D wire harness packaging in an integrated environment, this powerful solution reduces design time and increases the overall quality of large-scale electrical systems. It also enriches the design through realistic deformation of flexible harnesses by taking into account environmental conditions like gravity as well as the physical non-linear behavior of the harness and its protections.
Description
The Electrical 3D Systems Designer role covers the physical design of wire harness and cabling systems within the context of a 3D virtual product. It is part of the complete integrated electrical systems design process and is fully integrated with Systems Schematic Designer and the Electrical Harness Manufacturing Engineer roles.
Key foundations for the integrated electrical systems design process are:
- Systems Engineering approach through the implementation of a Requirements, Functional, Logical & Physical development framework that supports tight integration and traceability across all engineering disciplines and systems artefacts.
- A powerful collaborative 3DEXPERIENCE Platform that dries a ‘single source of truth’ across all engineering disciplines
- A sophisticated user experience delivered through powerful engineering capabilities like routing functions, use of component catalogs, support for standards and specification, kinematic simulation, network assistant for the analysis of systems, etc.
